I was born in Maryville TN but grew up in Monticello Mississippi. My wife Marla, grew up in Starkville Mississippi, a college town with Mississippi State University – Go Bulldogs! We have been married since 1995 and have two children; Jacob born in 2003, and Matthew born in 2008. We share common interests and loves in life as well as our love of God. We long to grow in relationship to God in a real way that fosters faith and love for one another and for others.
I trusted in God daily from an early age, thanks to my parents and my sister, but I had some particular points when I turned towards God in a more focused and faithful way thanks to God’s Spirit. When I was 11 or so, I began reading the word more seriously for myself and saw significant growth in my faith in God and interest in others knowing his mercy. And when I was in College, I was drawn into a small group Bible study by a college ministry, Reformed University Fellowship, where I learned more about the foundations of being a disciple of Jesus with other people through prayer, careful Bible study, and forgiving relationships. I found that through relationship with other Christians, my faith and life is guided, challenged, and grown.
I always had two drives in my life from an early age; that of landscape and of God. I became a landscape architect upon graduation from MS State in 1997. Though I love Landscape Architectural work and believe it a worthy call from God, I realized over time that I desired more to be a pastor of God’s people. So in the year 2000 we moved to Saint Louis Missouri and attended Covenant Theological Seminary to become a pastor. In Saint Louis, I had opportunity to work as a landscape architect and serve several local congregations in ministry including a church plant. I graduated in 2007 and served as pastor of a congregation in Winona Mississippi for 2 years.
In my ministry among the members and leaders of Pulaski PCA I seek to encourage true Godly community and redemptive fellowship centered on the worship of God. In worship we rely on the promises and truths of God’s word, we live with God and one another by the powerful and cleansing Spirit of God, and we trust that the basis of our reconciled relationship with God is through the life, death, and ongoing ministry of our Lord Jesus.
